2008 Application Information
Pettipaug Sailing Academy is pleased to announce our program offerings for the summer of 2008. Sailing classes are designed for boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 18, regardless of previous sailing experience. Instructors will stress basic sailing skills, seamanship, sportsmanship and the fun of sailing. More advanced students will learn the finer points of boat handling, racing tactics, and have the opportunity to participate in inter-club team racing

Class Schedules
The Sailing Academy program runs for seven (7) weeks from June 30th to August 15th. Shortened courses of instruction of 3-1/2 weeks are available from June 30th to July 22nd, and from July 24th to August 15th. Classes are held Mondays through Fridays in two sessions: Morning, 9:00-12:00 and Afternoon, 1:00-4:00. Graduation will be held the evening of August 15th at 6:00pm. Students may request either the morning or afternoon session. However, students who are “beginners” as judged by the PSA staff will be assigned to a morning session to best serve their special needs. Other class assignments will be based on sailing experience and on a first registered/ first served basis.
Early Registration is important if you wish to obtain a desired session.
Tuition
$550 per student for the seven week program; $350 per student for the shortened program. Enrollment is limited. In order to reserve a place in the program, a $75 non-refundable deposit must accompany the completed application. Returning student applicants shall be accepted until April 15th. After April 15th, all space is allocated on a first come, first allocated basis. The balance of the tuition is due no later than June 15th.
Full Tuition must be paid before students may attend any classes.
Scholarships

Boat Donation Tuition Refund
Families who supply a fully equipped and sound Optimist or Blue Jay for use in the full seven week program will be entitled to a tuition refund for an immediate family member. (See A Note About Boat Donations) Full tuition is to be paid in advance of attending class, and refunds will be made two weeks after the boat is checked out at the end of the seven week program.
Refunds will be made only for boats accepted into the program. Any boat judged by the staff to be unsafe or improperly equipped, or any boat not delivered at the PSA “CHECK-IN” on June 21st will be refused.
Pettipaug Yacht Club Membership
Although membership in Pettipaug Yacht Club is not required for enrollment in Pettipaug Sailing Academy, Junior Memberships (under age 21) are available for $15.00. Junior membership entitles the student and his/her family use of the club for the Academy season, and is required for participation in some regattas.
Forms
A completed application form, including medical information and a legal parent or guardian's signature must be provided to enroll a student in any Pettipaug program. Please note any allergies, special medication, and physical or learning disabilities your child may have. This information will be kept confidential. Please use one form per student, and print neatly or type the applications.
