2008 Pettipaug Racing Clinic
Pettipaug Sailing Academy, located on the Connecticut River in Essex, is sponsoring an intensive five day racing clinic for qualified sailors, ages eleven and older, using Club 420s (fully rigged with trapeze and spinnaker). The clinic is designed to provide participants with five full days of racing instruction, including analysis of racing strategies and tactics.
The clinic will run from June 23rd through June 27th, 9:00am to 4:00pm. Pettipaug Sailing Academy instructors and guest speakers will cover areas of interest to all participants, such as race strategy, starting tactics & pre-start maneuvers, mark rounding strategy and tactics, sailing in current, team racing maneuvers and more! Last year we emphasized Trapeze and Spinnaker skills, and all student’s skills were challenged, so come prepared. Our goal is for you to race and sail better after this week. A regatta with trophies will cap the fast paced week.
Enrollment is open to both PSA students and other qualified sailors. The twelve Academy C420s will be assigned to the first 24 applicants. Others, in excess of 24, may enroll by providing a suitable boat for the clinic.
The clinic cost is $150.00 for all five days, including boat use, materials, and regatta entry. Cost is $100.00 if you provide a club 420.
This clinic is aimed at teaching advanced racing concepts and participants are expected to have raced for at least one season or competed in at least three regattas. This is not a learn to sail program.
Please completely fill out the PSA Application Form and return as soon as possible to assure your space in the clinic. Space is limited.
