Pettipaug Yacht Club Membership

Candidates for membership must be interested in the purpose of the Club, which is to encourage and promote the use, racing, and enjoyment of small sailboats. Boat ownership is desirable but not necessary.

Candidates for Senior membership must be proposed and seconded in writing by two Senior or Life members in good standing, to whom the candidate is personally known. In addition the candidate must be supported by two letters of recommendation from other members. It is the responsibility of the Proposer (not the Applicant or the Membership Committee) to see that the application is properly completed, signed, and forwarded to the Membership Committee along with the four necessary letters of recommendation. Applications will not be accepted or acted upon unless they are fully completed.

Members of the Board of Governors or Membership Committee may write supporting letters but may not propose a candidate or second an application. The initiation fee is one hundred dollars. Dues are eighty-five dollars.

Applications for Junior Membership need no letters but must have the signatures of two members who support the application. Membership in Pettipaug Yacht Club is a family membership. Children (under 21) of a member family are automatically members of the Club.

Students attending Pettipaug Sailing Academy need not be members of Pettipaug Yacht Club, but membership in Pettipaug may be required if the student wishes to participate in races with other yacht clubs. Such students may apply to join as Junior Members whether or not their families belong to Pettipaug Yacht Club. The junior membership fee is fifteen dollars.
